Labor and Delivery
The Floyd Memorial Birthing Center offers seven specialized labor and delivery rooms which allow women to labor and deliver in the same comfortable room, two state of the art surgical suites for emergency and scheduled cesarean section births, one antenatal room, two new recovery rooms, an expanded nursery, and remodeled post-partum rooms.
Newborns are cared for in our secure, monitored nursery. Mothers and infants are welcome to “room in” or, if the mother prefers, newborns can spend the night in our nursery staffed by nurses 24 hours-a-day. Floyd Memorial works closely with local pediatricians, family practice physicians and obstetricians to provide the best care possible for infant and mother. Floyd Memorial also welcomes the use of certified nurse midwives and doulas in the birthing experience and offers several “Meet the Doula” nights in our Paris Health Education Center.
It is our goal to provide the best, most comfortable birthing experience possible. Pain management and natural childbirth options are available to all of our mothers depending on their preference, and we are also proud to staff three certified lactation consultants to assist new mothers who choose to breastfeed.
Keeping with our goal of excellence in education, Floyd Memorial offers a wide array of classes directed at first time and repeat parents. Classes covering pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and cesarean births as well as classes directed towards new siblings, infant health and CPR and infant massage are all available.
