The Floyd Memorial Birthing Center offers a diverse range of services dedicated to advancing the health of mothers and babies. We personalize your birthing plan to meet your individual wishes and provide you with options. In addition to a certified nurse midwife, doulas, garden tubs for labor, kangaroo care (skin to skin bonding) after birth and scheduled quiet times, our Center provides several options for pain control during delivery. Our latest addition, nitrous oxide, is a mild analgesic, an alternative to a narcotic and effective in reducing pain and anxiety while laboring. We offer a state-of-the-art Labor and Delivery and Postpartum Unit where mothers can deliver their babies with assurance that their needs will be attended to by a compassionate and well-trained staff.
Certified lactation experts are available to help mom and baby with breastfeeding. We also offer classes so dads and siblings can learn how to play an important role, too. There is a breast pumping station in the Birthing Center for visitors or families who need to express milk and it is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Just visit the fourth floor and ask at the nurse’s station. The Floyd Memorial Birthing Center focuses on families.
