Ashley Lankford, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Board Certified General Surgeon

Ashley Lankford, M.D., F.A.C.S., a board certified general surgeon, joined Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in 2002. A Louisville native, she received her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Louisville. She completed a general surgery internship and residency at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia.

Prior to joining Floyd Memorial’s active staff, Dr. Lankford was Chief Resident of General Surgery at Memorial Health University Medical Center. She has a private surgical practice located in the Professional Arts Building in New Albany, and is a board certified fellow in the American College of Surgeons.

In preparation for FDA approval of the Realize Adjustable Gastric Band in the United States, Dr. Lankford traveled to the Czech Republic in 2007 to train with a leading European bariatric surgeon, making her one of the first surgeons in the nation to be trained on the procedure.

Vasti Broadstone, M.D.

Board Certified Endocrinologist and Weight Management Specialist

Vasti Broadstone, MD, a board certified endocrinologist and weight management specialist, joined Floyd Memorial in 1996 and is currently the Medical Director for the Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate at Floyd Memorial and HMR physician at the Floyd Memorial Weight Management Center.

She graduated from Rio de Janeiro State University School of Medicine in 1976, completed her internal medicine residency at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio and endocrinology fellowship at the University of Louisville. She held a full time faculty position at the University of Louisville School of Medicine from 1984 until 2001, and is active in clinical trials and research concerning diabetes complications and new treatments for the disease. Dr. Broadstone is also very involved with the American Diabetes Association, and was inducted to the American Diabetes Association Hall of Fame in February 2005 for her work with summer camps for children with Type 1 diabetes. A native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, she enjoys sailing and downhill skiing with her husband and 3 children.

Sriprakash Mokshagundam, M.D.

Board Certified Endocrinologist and Weight Management Specialist

Sri Mokshagundam, MD, a board certified endocrinologist and weight management specialist, is currently the medical director of the Weight Management Center, an endocrinologist at the Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate at Floyd Memorial and on the staff of the VA Medical center in Louisville, KY.

He completed his internal medicine residency at New York Medical College and Lincoln Medical Center and clinical fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York. He has been on the faculty at the University of Louisville since 1992 and currently is an Associate Professor in the division of Endocrinology and Metabolism. Dr. Mokshagundam is an active member of the Endocrine Society and Obesity Society. He is also very involved with the American Diabetes Association, and recently received provider recognition for excellent diabetes care from the ADA.

Nancy Anderson

Weight Management Center Program Coordinator

Nancy Anderson graduated in 1991 from Murray State University with a Bachelor of Science degree, joining Floyd Memorial Hospital the same year. Nancy helped coordinate the opening of HMR Weight Management Center at Floyd Memorial in 2005, and in 2008 she became the program coordinator of Floyd Memorial Weight Management Center combining HMR and Realize gastric banding surgery. Nancy supervises the Center and oversees the processes necessary to ensure each patients’ successful weight management.

“I love being able to be a part of so many peoples’ weight loss success stories. I am often the first contact our patients have with our Weight Management Center. It is so exciting to watch their transformation as they lose weight and become happier and healthier.”

Amy Brown, RD, CES, CDE

Registered Dietitian, Exercise Physiologist and Certified Diabetes Educator

Amy Brown, RD, CES, CDE, received her B.S. in Dietetics from the University of Kentucky and M.S. in Kinesiology from Indiana University. She has been helping patients reach their health and wellness goals since 1997 in the Floyd Memorial Cardiac Rehab, Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate and the Weight Management Center. Amy is a Registered Dietitian, a Clinical Exercise Specialist through the American College of Sports Medicine and a Certified Diabetes Educator. Her most recent achievement is a Certificate of Training in Adult Weight Management through the American Dietetic Association. She currently provides pre- and post-operative education on diet and exercise with bariatric patients receiving the Realize Gastric Adjustable Band. Amy also provides diabetes education for the Joslin Diabetes Center including medical nutrition therapy and physical activity instruction. When she is not working Amy enjoys being with her husband and two children, reading, staying physically active with brisk walking and strength training and going to the pool with her family in the summer.

When patients come back into the clinic after just 5-10% of their weight is lost, their skin looks healthier, they have a big smile on their faces and they generally look happy and upbeat. Joan Weston, RN, BSN

Registered Nurse Specializing in Weight Management

Joan Weston, RN, BSN, graduated from Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, IA with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and a minor in Psychology. She has been with Floyd Memorial since 2000, and joined HMR in 2005. Since 2008, Joan has acted as the Weight Management Center’s resident registered nurse, ensuring the clinical excellence of the Center, and making sure patients maintain their optimum health.

“I have seen the affects of obesity both personally and professionally. I like to see the positive results of weight-loss with regards to the patient’s lifestyle changes. I also enjoy seeing their improved health, decrease of medications and happier lifestyles. Witnessing our patient’s weight-loss is an immediate and positive reinforcement for me.”

Lara Keith

Health Educator

Lara Keith joined Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in 2005. She was the first Health Educator for the HMR program, and has continued in the role for over four years. In 2009 she took on the additional role of Support Educator for the bariatric surgery program. Prior to coming to Floyd Memorial, Lara obtained her Bachelors Degree in Psychology from IUS and worked as a social worker. This year she was excited to complete her Bariatric University class on Coaching Skills, and received a certificate for all of her efforts.

Lara’s motivation for coming to work for the Weight Management Center was her own struggle with her weight. She lost 60 pounds in 2001 and sees her work at the Center as a great opportunity to continue to help others while helping herself as well.

Whitney Nash

Health Educator

Whitney Nash joined the team at Floyd Memorial Hospital in 2009 after receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition with a minor in Health Promotion and Worksite Wellness from the University of Southern Indiana. She is also a Certified Health Education Specialist through the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing. Outside of work, Whitney enjoys cooking, baking and walking with her dog Reggie.

“It is so wonderful to help people with their weight loss goals and see their results every week. I have always had a passion for working with food, and it has been great to use food as a tool to help people reach their weight loss goals. Giving patients the support they need to make lifelong changes in their lives is a really rewarding part of this job.”

Stefanie Richmer

Weight Management Center Secretary/Receptionist

Stefanie comes to Floyd Memorial with a background in customer service and human resources. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from Sullivan University, and enjoys spending free time with her daughter, latch-hooking and working Sudoku puzzles. She has been with Floyd Memorial since 2008.

“I love to hear the patients talk about their weight loss journeys. I am the first person they see when they come in the office so I get to hear their small success stories every week. This is motivation for me because weight loss is a struggle for me, just like them. I love to hear their success stories and can sympathize with them when their weeks have not been that great. I love working in a place where I can physically see that we are helping people!”
