New Albany,IN–Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services will recognize the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Emergency Nurses during their national recognition week of May 20- 26, 2012 for their dedication of time and energy to the community. TheFloyd Memorial Emergency Center offers level two trauma care to the Southern Indiana region, an invaluable resource to our community.

National EMS and Emergency Nurses Week brings together local communities and medical personnel to publicize safety and honor the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of medicine’s “front line.”

The Medi-Star awards, presented by Medical News and Medical News for You, celebrate the “Best of the Best” in health care and will be presented on Tuesday, May 22 from 4:30 – 7 pm at the Hyatt Regency inLouisville.

The free Breastfeeding class will be held Thursday, May 10 from 6:30 – 9 pm in the Paris Health Education Center located inside the hospital at1850 State Street in New Albany.  The class will help new mothers and their newborn have a successful breastfeeding experience.  The discussion will include helpful hints and practical guidelines, as well as common misconceptions and barriers.

Sibling class will take place Saturday, May 19 from 10:30 am – 12 pm in the Paris Health Education Center.  The free class is for soon-to-be new brothers and sisters ages 3 to 11 and their parents.  Children will be shown how to diaper and hold a baby doll, and tour the Birthing Center where they will get to listen to the baby’s heartbeat.

Our Babysavers class is offered on Thursday, May 17 from 6:30 – 8 pm in the Paris Health Education Center.  The class is taught by certified CPR instructors and designed to teach infant CPR to new parents and caregivers.  The cost is $10 per couple for materials.

And for patients with a positive diagnosis, the Floyd Memorial Cancer Center of Indiana offers Southern Indiana’s only Breast Cancer Nurse Navigator program, to ensure that our patients are guided through their cancer journey by caring hands.  

In addition to mammography, Floyd Memorial Diagnostic Imaging-Corydon also offers: x-ray, CT scanning, including contrasted studies, diagnostic and vascular ultrasound, DXA bone density scanning, echocardiogram and stress echocardiogram.

 Dr. Azad is currently accepting new patients ages 18 and above.  He is a graduate ofGovernmentMedicalSchoolinIndiaand completed his Master’s Degree in Public Health fromNew YorkMedicalCollegein 1989.  In 1995 Dr. Azad completed his Internal Medicine residency from theUniversityofLouisvilleand in 1997 completed a second residency in Occupational Medicine at theUniversityofCincinnati.

 Dr. Azad is an active member of the Indiana State Medical Association, American Medical Association andAmericanCollegeof Physicians.  He is also a member of the Kentucky Medical Association and Greater Louisville Medical Society.  Additionally, Dr. Azad proudly served in the Kentucky Air National Guard Medical Squadron for two years.
