Open Heart Surgery
When it comes to firsts in heart care, look no further than Floyd Memorial’s Heart and Vascular Center. We are equipped with the experts, facilities and sophisticated equipment for diagnosis, surgery and follow-up care. The Heart and Vascular Center offers two open-heart surgery suites specializing in coronary artery bypass surgery, off pump coronary artery bypass, and minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass, as well as valve reconstruction and replacement procedures. All cardiovascular surgery procedures are performed by board-certified surgeons from the Louisville-based University Cardiothoracic Surgical Associates, PSC. The Heart and Vascular Center offers the only open-heart surgery program in its Southern Indiana region.
Open-heart patients require a high-level of care and attention following surgery. Floyd Memorial’s Cardiovascular Care Unit was designed with the patient and their family in mind by using the progressive ‘universal bed concept’. The model involves a nursing staff that changes the type and level of care around the patient as they progress toward discharge. The patient remains in the same room their entire stay which offers better continuity and care and less disruption to the patient and their loved ones.
