Should You be Tested for Diabetes?

Diabetes needs to be controlled to help prevent complications such as amputations, blindness, kidney failure and heart problems. Vasdev Lohano, MD, specialist in endocrinology, recommends testing if you have any of the following risk factors:
• Age 40 or over
• A close relative with diabetes
• Obesity or being overweight
• High blood pressure
• Heart disease or stroke
• History of diabetes during pregnancy
• Frequent urination or fatigue
