Healthier Community Intitative Focuses on Bike Helmet Safety

May 11, 2010

Summer is just around the corner and warmer weather means more and more kids will be enjoying outdoor activities such as riding bikes, scooters and skateboards. With head injuries being a major cause of Emergency Center visits for children under the age of 15, Floyd Memorial’s Urgent Care Centers are doing their part by offering free bike helmets and fittings.

The helmets, donated by the Hospital’s Healthier Community Initiative, will be given out during the following dates and times. To receive a free helmet, the child must be present and fitted to ensure the helmet fits correctly for improved safety.

  • Bass Pro Shop Men’s Health Fair, May 22, 1 to 3 p.m.
  • Every Saturday in June from 9 a.m.-Noon at Urgent Care Charlestown Road and Highlander Point
