Floyd Memorial Awarded Grants for Patient Programs

January 7, 2011

Floyd Memorial’s Cancer Center of Indiana recently received a $3,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana to fund massage therapy for Clark County residents who are receiving treatment at Floyd Memorial Hospital or the Cancer Center of Indiana. Massage therapy has been shown to stimulate cancer patients’ lymphatic system, helping the body fight off infection, reduce muscle tension, pain, fatigue and nausea. This grant allows patients to receive the benefits of therapeutic massage at no cost to the patient.

In addition, a $10,000 medication assistance grant was also recently awarded to Floyd Memorial by the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana, funded by the Paul Ogle Foundation and the Horseshoe Foundation, for the second year in a row. The grant will be used to provide short-term financial assistance to uninsured patients who can’t afford their prescription medications.
