Emergency Center Physician and Forensics Services Team Receive Special Honors

Floyd Memorial Emergency Center physician Steven Pahner, MD, was recently nominated for the MediStar Physician of the Year Award. In addition to his work as an ER physician and his role as an associate professor at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, Dr. Pahner is also passionate about assisting victims of violent crimes and sexual assault. As the medical director of the Forensics Services program at Floyd Memorial, Dr. Pahner heads up a response team that provides forensic evaluations, social services support, and access to law
enforcement and prosecution for adult and pediatric sexual assault and violent crime victims. In addition to the honor Dr. Pahner received, Kathy Scifres, RN, Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner for the Forensic Services program, was also recently honored by the Indiana Coalition Against Sexual Assault with the 2008 Outstanding Medical Professional Award.
