A Fond Farewell

March 1, 2008

This is the first issue of HealthScope since its redesign in 2005 that has featured someone other than a physician on the cover. Bryant R. Hanson, FACHE, has served as the president and CEO of Floyd Memorial for over 17 years and the cover of our flagship publication seemed the perfect place to recognize and honor him. In early March, Bryant started a new journey in life—retirement.

Since coming to Floyd Memorial in 1990, striking physical transformations, top notch quality rankings and astounding growth have been hallmarks of his leadership. First and foremost, we now serve a larger regional population with seven outlying facilities including family medical practices and urgent care locations. Along with expanding our campus we have also extended our scope of services from an acute care facility to a comprehensive, tertiary healthcare provider.

From open-heart surgery, to the Harvard-affiliated Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate, to partnerships with physician groups including Cancer Center of Indiana, Priority Radiology and Kleinert Kutz Surgery Center, Bryant has continuously demonstrated the drive and dedication to move Floyd Memorial forward in this competitive market. He has also surrounded himself with a team of highly skilled individuals including his leadership team, associates and physicians, to ensure that our community has expert medical care and support to live healthy lifestyles.

Bryant has witnessed many of our hospitals major milestones including its 50th anniversary and the opening of its Heart & Vascular Center. His forward-thinking approach and never ending drive have made Floyd Memorial the exceptional facility that it is today. I think I can safely say that the entire community joins me in thanking Bryant for his dedication and leadership and in wishing him a fond farewell.

Sincerely,

Jerrol Miles Chairman of the Board of Trustees
