Healthier Community Initiative Screening Programs
The Healthier Community Initiative (HCI) provides many screening programs and classes to help community members assess and improve their personal state of health and well-being. A variety of free seminars and educational opportunities are available throughout the year, and HCI offers a free comprehensive screening program, Take 2 for Heart and Stroke, on a monthly basis.
The Take 2 for Heart & Stroke program provides a comprehensive assessment on heart attack and stroke risk. This is a two-part program. First, it combines free screening for blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol levels, and Body Mass Index (BMI) scoring in order to assess risk for heart attack and stroke in the individual. Next, the program inventories family history, dietary and lifestyle habits, and environmental hazards. With this information, our HCL professionals can identify lifestyle changes that could be implemented to increase heart health in the future. Ultimately, the program designs interventions that might be necessary to help the individual proceed on a path towards a healthier and more active lifestyle. Risk intervention strategies include dietary changes, weight loss management strategies and smoking cessation programs. Screenings are offered by appointment on a monthly basis. To schedule your own free, personal screening, please call 1-800-4-SOURCE (1-800-476-8723) today.
