According to the American Diabetes Association’s 2011 statistics, 25.8 million Americans have diabetes; with an astonishing 7.0 million of those individuals currently undiagnosed and not receiving critical treatment for their disease. Additionally, the ADA estimates that 79 million Americans currently suffer from a condition known as pre-diabetes, a treatable precursor to type-2 diabetes.
In honor of National Diabetes Alert Day on Tuesday, March 26, the Floyd Memorial Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate will offer a free pre-diabetes class. Attendees will learn how to reduce their risk of developing type 2 diabetes and set goals for living healthier. Class is normally $25, but is being offered free of charge on this day.
