Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services is proud to announce that the Floyd Memorial Spine Center has just been designated as a 2012 Blue Distinction Center for Spine Surgery, and the Floyd Memorial Joint Replacement Center has once again earned the Blue Distinction Center designation for Knee and Hip Replacement by Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
The Blue Distinction is a national designation that recognizes facilities that demonstrate expertise in delivering quality specialty care – safely, efficiently and cost effectively. It is awarded to facilities that meet nationally established, objective quality measures, focused on patient safety and outcomes, developed with thoughtful input from the medical community, as well as cost of care criteria. The goal of the designation is to help consumers find both quality and value for their specialty care needs, on a consistent basis, while encouraging healthcare professionals to improve the overall quality and delivery of care nationwide.
President and CEO, Mark Shugarman, explained, “This national distinction shows that Floyd Memorial is a healthcare industry leader with high quality, affordable care. The reputation of our Spine and Joint Replacement Centers is reaching beyond the regional level.”
Laura Crump, RN, Orthopedic and Spine Nurse Navigator, added, “From the first phone conversation, our patients quickly find that they are our priority. Their care, comfort and convenience are placed above all else, and they leave Floyd Memorial feeling like family members.”
Floyd Memorial Spine Center surgeons who have helped earn this recognition are Michael Doyle, MD, Mohammad Majd, MD, and Steven Kuric, MD. Joint Replacement Center surgeons who have contributed to the designation include Edward Bell, MD, John Conner, MD, and Aniefiok Uyoe, MD.
