Diabetes can be an overwhelming condition for many patients. From counting carbs to testing blood sugars to understanding medications, maintaining good health with diabetes is undoubtedly a challenge. But for those patients who are up to the task, knowledge truly is power.
Amy Brown, RD, CDE, CES, a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator with the Floyd Memorial Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate and the Floyd Memorial Weight Management Center, will offer a free “Grocery Shopping for Diabetes” guided tour at the Sav-a-Lot store on State Street in New Albany on Tuesday, October 30 from 10 to 11 a.m.
The tour will include tips for stocking your refrigerator and pantry with healthy, affordable, diabetes-friendly products, as well as helpful advice on how to prepare healthy, budget-friendly and satisfying meals and snacks. Patients and loved ones with diabetes, pre-diabetes or those just looking to improve their health are welcome to attend.
