Floyd Memorial Medical Group Physician Named President-Elect of the Indiana State Medical Association

Officer Elections were held Sunday, September 16, 2012, at the Indiana State Medical Association’s (ISMA) Annual Convention in Indianapolis, and Floyd Memorial Medical Group internal medicine and occupational medicine physician, Deepak Azad, MD, MPH, FACP, was elected President-Elect by delegates representing districts across the state.  Dr. Azad will serve a one-year term as President-Elect, followed by a one-year term as President.

Previously, Dr. Azad has served as Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer, as well as a member of several important committees, commissions and task forces, including the Commission on Legislation. 

As President-Elect, Dr. Azad will serve in the leadership role to promote sound health care policy in the public, private and governmental sectors, and to support continuing medical education for Indiana doctors. 

Currently, Dr. Azad is medical director for the Southern Indiana Internal Medicine and Occupational Health Center.  He is seeing patients at Floyd Memorial Medical Group in Scottsburg and Georgetown.
