Floyd Memorial Seeking Volunteers

July 24, 2012

Floyd Memorial Hospital is looking for volunteers age 18 and over to help our patients and visitors.  Our volunteer program has many opportunities to make friends, build resumes and provide a crucial service to our community members who find themselves in need of hospital services.  Volunteer opportunities include gift shop sales, shuttle drivers, Cancer Center greeters, visiting with patients undergoing chemotherapy, reception desk, waiting room help and more. Our flexible scheduling will allow you to participate from just an hour or two per week, to as often as you like.  We need help throughout the day as well as evening and weekend hours.  We have volunteers of all ages with a variety of backgrounds including WAVE 3 Meteorologist, John Belski, and his wife, Lynn, teachers, authors, judges, grandparents, etc.

Perks to volunteering include free gym membership to our Cardiac Rehab facility, a 30 percent discount in our cafeteria, free lunches on weekends, a recognition banquet and friendships that last a lifetime. Volunteering is one of the healthiest things you can do for yourself.  It keeps you active and stimulates the mind and spirit.  If you’d like more information or to have someone speak at your church or group meeting, contact Karen Langdon, Volunteer Manager, at (812) 948-6734.
