Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services’ Healthier Community Initiative will offer a free sports medicine injury prevention and training program for anyone who is interested in youth sports such as coaches, parents, training staff and volunteers. Registration is required for the Saturday, February 25, 2012 program. The times are from 8 to 10 a.m. and breakfast will be served.
Floyd Emergency Medicine Physician, Stanley Schooler, M.D., with expertise in both Emergency and Sports Medicine will be discussing common sports injuries, injury management, and tips and techniques to prevent sports injuries. In addition, a Physical Therapist will discuss simple steps coaches and training staff can take to prevent injuries, and a local Paramedic will show participants what to do in a crisis until EMS arrives.
