New Albany, IN – Carol Mullen, RN, MPH, Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services Director of Quality, has been selected by the Indiana Hospital Association (IHA) Board of Directors to serve on the IHA Council on Quality & Patient Safety. Mullen has been appointed to a two-year term beginning January 1, 2012.
“I am honored to be appointed to the Council on Quality & Patient Safety,” said Mullen. “Providing the highest quality care in a safe environment is something that I have always been very passionate about.”
The IHA Council provides direction to the Association’s patient safety activities and serves as the advisory board for the Indiana Patient Safety Center. It also assists in the development of IHA positions on federal and state patient safety and quality improvement initiatives.
In addition, this Council advises the Board, Indiana Patient Safety Center and staff on the quality improvement and patient safety needs of its membership and recommends activities and functions to support these needs. The IHA Council also monitors activities of organizations that impact members’ quality improvement activities, such as the National Quality Forum, accrediting bodies, quality improvement organizations and state and federal regulatory agencies.
“I am thrilled that Carol was appointed to this Council,” said Mark Shugarman, President and CEO of Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services. “We are fortunate to have someone of Carol’s caliber leading the quality and safety initiatives at Floyd Memorial and to have that recognized by the IHA.”
