Non-invasive screenings are available for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm, Peripheral Artery Disease and Carotid Artery Disease. Floyd Memorial’s Women’s Imaging Center offers pDXA heel screenings for osteoporosis. The pDXA screening is a scan of the bone density of the heel. The screening takes place in the Women’s Imaging Center and are offered by appointment only. The screening will be offered free for anyone who schedules during the month of January and February 2011. Floyd Memorial’s Healthier Community Initiative offers a free Car Seat Fitting Station on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. by appointment. Have your seat checked by certified car seat technicians. Free Take 2 for Heart and Stroke screenings are offered on a regular basis by appointment. Floyd Memorial’s Joslin Diabetes Center will offer a Pre-Diabetes Class on Friday, January 7 from 8 to 10:30 a.m. If you have pre-diabetes, or are overweight and 45 or older, you are at high risk of developing type-2 diabetes. Operation Parent: Parenting 101 Class series will be offered in Floyd Memorial’s Paris Health Education Center on Thursday, January 13, 20, 27 and February 3 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Part of the Success by Six Parenting Workshop, This class is for parents of pre-teens and teenagers to raise awareness of today’s teen culture and give parents strategies for dealing with their teenage children and networking with other parents.
