Community Foundation of Southern Indiana Shows Continued Support of Floyd Memorial’s Massage Therapy Program through Grant Funding

April 8, 2010

The Floyd Memorial Hospital Massage Therapy program received a $2,000 grant to support the continuation of its free massage therapy services to cancer patients. The grant monies will provide residents of Clark County, as well as their immediate caregivers, the benefit of therapeutic massage and bodywork while being treated as a patient of Floyd Memorial Hospital and/or the Cancer Center of Indiana.

According to Rayna Withers, Massage Therapy Program Director at Floyd Memorial, “The continued support from the Southern Indiana Community Foundation reflects the Foundation’s desire to offer residents of Clark County the same benefits patients are experiencing not only in our community but nationwide. These benefits include: reduction of cancer related fatigue, boosting the immune system functioning, reduction of pain, emotional/mental stress levels, blood pressure and pulse rates. This grant will be integral in the continuation and growth of our massage therapy program and is a great opportunity for patients here at Floyd Memorial who are residents of Clark County.”
