December 1, 2009

The Floyd County Commissioners recently appointed two new community members to serve on Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services’ Board of Trustees.  James McCullough, Jr., M.D. and M. Diane Murphy were sworn in by the Honorable J. Terrence Cody, Floyd County Circuit Court Judge, and will begin their tenure on January 1, 2010.

Dr. McCullough is a board certified general surgeon who has been a member of Floyd Memorial’s medical staff for over 30 years. He has served patients in the Southern Indiana community since 1978 and has an active practice on East Spring Street in New Albany. He attended medical school at the University of Louisville School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency at Maricopa County General Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona.

Murphy has been with Your Community Bank for over 40 years, beginning her career in 1967 as a Loan Processor, and moving up into positions ranging from Branch Manager to Vice President of Retail Banking, to Sr. Vice President/Director of Human Resources and finally into her current roles as Sr. Vice President of Community Relations and President of the Your Community Bank Charitable Foundation.  She attended Indiana University Southeast, the Institute of Financial Education in Chicago, Illinois and the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.  Murphy is involved in numerous community organizations, including the Metro United Way, LifeSpan Resources, Salvation Army, Women’s Foundation of Southern Indiana, Horseshoe Foundation Investment Advisory Board, the Housing Partnership, Guerin, Inc., Our Lady of Providence Jr./Sr. High Schoool, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

Murphy and Dr. McCullough take the place of Kay Garry, who served two four-year terms and most recently acted as the Secretary of the Board, and Keith Megraw, who served one term and acted as Chair of the Board Finance Committee.  “We would like to sincerely thank Kay Garry and Keith Megraw for their years of dedication and service to Floyd Memorial, and also welcome Dr. McCullough and Diane Murphy to the Board of Trustees,” stated Jerrol Z. Miles, chairman of the Board.  “They bring many years of combined expertise in the healthcare and financial arenas and will be excellent assets to the Board.”
