October 27, 2009

Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease and going through the process of seeking treatment and support can be a truly daunting task.  Floyd Memorial Hospital and the Alzheimer’s Association of Southern Indiana and Kentucky have teamed up to lend a helping hand by offering a free Snack n’ Learn Medication Management Program for family and caregivers.  The program will be held at the hospital’s Paris Health Education Center on Friday, November 13 from 1-2:30 p.m.

The informative seminar will be given by Demetra Antimisiaris, PharmD, CGP, FASCP, doctor of pharmacology and assistant professor of Family and Geriatric Medicine at the University of Louisville. This workshop will help persons with memory loss and their caregivers gain an understanding of commonly prescribed medications and challenges they may face in managing their medications. Safe medication management, recognition of medication concerns, what to do about medication issues and medication resources will also be addressed. A question and answer session will follow and a variety of desserts will be served.

Pre-registration is required.  Call 1-800-272-3900 for more information or to register.
