Floyd Memorial Celebrates National Volunteer Week

April 20, 2009

The success of Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services as the healthcare provider of choice in Southern Indiana is not based solely on the efforts of our leadership, associates or even physicians. The hospital has the helping hands of over 200 volunteers who make it possible for us to provide the highest touch care and special programs to our patients and visitors. In fact, last year our volunteers donated nearly 38,000 hours of time, personality and skill at the hospital.

From delivering the mail to serving as patient advocates in the hospital’s Outpatient Surgery Center, Floyd Memorial has created a unique volunteer program that offers just as many benefits to those who give of their time. In celebration of National Volunteer Week, April 19 – 25, Floyd Memorial volunteers will enjoy birthday bingo in honor of all the volunteers’ birthdays, a discount in the Auxiliary-owned hospital gift shop, an ice cream social, and a free lunch at the hospital as well as a banquet at The Grand.

Currently, Floyd Memorial is actively recruiting volunteers to join its team. New volunteer opportunities include driving the hospital’s new shuttle around the main parking lot providing a convenient ride for patients and visitors and serving as family advocates in our Emergency Center.
