Wound Care Events Offer Tips to Prevent Lower-Limb Amputations

July 3, 2008 – More than 60 percent of non-traumatic lower-limb amputations occur in people with diabetes. Dr. Syed Ahmed, podiatrist with Floyd Memorial’s Wound Healing Center, will offer a free seminar on Tuesday, July 29, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Floyd Memorial’s Paris Health Education Center and a free foot screening on Monday, August 11, 8 to 11 a.m. at Kleinert Kutz Surgery Center in Affiliation with Floyd Memorial.

An Unwrapping the Key to Wound Care seminar is scheduled for Tuesday, July 29, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dr. Ahmed will discuss proper foot care including steps to follow for healthy feet, wound prevention and treatment options available for acute and chronic wounds.
The free foot screening will be held on Monday, August 11, 8 to 11 a.m. by appointment only at the Kleinert Kutz Surgery Center in Affiliation with Floyd Memorial located at Northgate Court on Grantline Road.
